CodeChef

CodeChef is an online competitive programming platform founded in 2009 by Bhavin Turakhia and Divyank Turakhia as part of Directi. It provides a large problem archive, an online judge, and a suite of programming contests for students and professionals. The platform aims to promote competitive programming skills and learning through practice and contest participation.

CodeChef runs three recurring contests: the Long Challenge, which spans about ten days and emphasizes problem-solving and learning; the Cook-Off, a short 2.5-hour contest; and Lunchtime, a school-year contest for students. In addition, it hosts SnackDown, a major annual team-based championship that brings together top contestants from around the world. The Practice section offers problems categorized by difficulty, with an online judge that accepts submissions in multiple programming languages. CodeChef supports languages including C, C++, Java, Python, and others, and provides an editor and compiler in the browser.

Users earn ratings based on their performance in contests, which place them in divisions and result in a tiered ranking system (e.g., Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum). The platform also maintains an active community through CodeChef Discuss and problem authoring, editorial content, and problem-solving discussions.

CodeChef has grown into a widely used resource for competitive programming education, interview preparation, and recruiting, with millions of registered users and problems spanning a wide range of categories from easy to hard.
