Climaterelated

Climaterelated is a broad descriptor used to identify topics, events, or risks that arise from climate change. The term appears in science, economics, policy, business, and journalism and is often written as climate-related or climate related. It covers physical changes such as warming temperatures, shifting precipitation, rising seas, and more extreme weather, as well as the social and economic responses to these changes.

In risk assessment, climate-related factors are categorized as physical risks (direct impacts from weather and climate) and transition risks (shifts in policy, technology, and markets as economies move toward lower-carbon pathways). These considerations affect infrastructure design, agriculture, energy systems, insurance, supply chains, and public health.

Measurement and reporting: frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and its successor ISSB guide organizations to disclose governance, strategy, risk management, metrics, and targets related to climate change. Climate scenarios, often using IPCC assessments and SSPs, are used to test resilience. Attribution research seeks to quantify the extent to which climate change influences specific events. Data gaps and uncertainty remain challenges.

Climaterelated considerations continue to evolve as science provides updated assessments and as policy, markets, and technology change.
