Climateproviding is an emergent term used in discussions of climate policy and sustainability to describe actions, systems, or infrastructures that generate climate-related benefits for societies. Definition and scope: Climateproviding refers to activities that reduce or stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations, lower exposure to climate hazards, or supply reliable climate data and forecasts to support decision-making. It encompasses technological, financial, and institutional measures designed to produce climate benefits for communities, businesses, and ecosystems.

Examples: Deploying renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and electrifying transport are often cited as climateproviding because they cut emissions. Restoring forests, wetlands, and other ecosystems can contribute to carbon sequestration and resilience. Building climate-resilient infrastructure, upgrading housing and urban design, and expanding climate services—such as regional weather forecasts, early warning systems, and risk assessments—also fit the concept.
