Clarificacions

Clarificacions is a Catalan term that refers to the act or result of making something clear, eliminating ambiguity, and providing information that resolves questions or doubts. They can take the form of brief notes, official replies, or additions to documents that improve accuracy and understanding.

In administrative and legal contexts, clarificacions are often issued by authorities, organizations, or individuals to ensure correct interpretation of policies, procedures, or contractual terms. They may be requested to address inconsistencies or to clarify data, definitions, or obligations. In journalism, academia, and technical fields, clarificacions help correct errors, specify terminology, or elaborate on methods and findings.

The concept is closely related to, but sometimes distinguished from, aclaracions. In Catalan usage, clarificacions emphasizes the process of clarification, while aclaracions tends to denote the clarifying statement or explanation itself. In practice, the terms can be used interchangeably depending on style, jurisdiction, or the specific context.

Etymology traces clarificacions to the Latin clarificare, “to make clear,” and they entered Catalan through historical Romance language development. The plural form clarificacions is used for multiple instances of clarification, while the singular clarificació refers to a single act or piece of clarification.
