Cianoacrilát

Cianoacrilát, commonly known as super glue or cyanoacrylate adhesive, is a fast-acting adhesive. It is an acrylic resin that undergoes rapid polymerization in the presence of moisture to form strong, durable bonds. This polymerization process is exothermic, meaning it releases heat. Cianoacrilates are available in various formulations, differing in viscosity, setting speed, and flexibility of the cured bond.

The primary mechanism of action involves the anionic polymerization of the cyanoacrylate monomer. Even trace amounts of moisture on the surfaces being joined initiate this reaction. The resulting polymer, polycyanoacrylate, is a strong plastic that adheres well to a wide range of materials, including plastics, metals, rubber, ceramics, and wood. However, it is less effective on porous surfaces and can be brittle, making it unsuitable for applications requiring significant flexibility or impact resistance.

Cianoacrilates are widely used in household repairs, model making, and various industrial applications due to their quick setting time and strong bonding capabilities. Caution should be exercised during application, as skin contact can result in rapid and strong bonding to the skin. Eye contact is particularly hazardous and requires immediate medical attention. In industrial settings, ventilation is often recommended due to the fumes produced during polymerization.
