Chevrolet, commonly known as Chevy, is an American automobile division of General Motors (GM). Founded in 1911 by race car driver Louis Chevrolet and GM founder William C. Durant, the brand was named after Louis Chevrolet. GM acquired full control of Chevrolet in 1918, and it has since been one of GM's leading brands, producing cars, trucks, vans and SUVs for global markets. The portfolio includes models such as the Silverado pickup, Equinox and Traverse SUVs, Malibu sedan, and the Camaro and Corvette sports cars.
