Chandannagar
Chandannagar, also known as Chandernagore, is a municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the western bank of the Hooghly River, it lies about 30 miles north of Kolkata. Historically, Chandannagar was a French colony, established in 1696 as a trading post. For over two centuries, it was a significant French possession in India, experiencing periods of both French and British control.
