Chakyars
Chakyars are a community traditionally associated with the performance of Koodiyattam, a Sanskrit drama form originating in Kerala, India. They are a distinct social group whose lineage and role in the performance are passed down through generations. The Chakyar community is primarily found in the Palakkad and Thrissur districts of Kerala. Historically, their performances were confined to temples and temple courtyards, known as koothambalams.
