Cesáis

Cesáis is the second-person plural present indicative form of the Spanish verb cesar, which means to cease, to stop doing something. It is used when addressing multiple people in informal or semi-formal contexts that employ the vosotros form, common in Spain and some parts of the world.

Conjugation and usage. Cesar is a regular -ar verb, and its present indicative paradigm including vosotros is: yo cese? No—correct is: yo ceso, tú cesas, él/ella/Ud. cesa, nosotros cesamos, vosotros cesáis, ellos/ellas/Uds. cesan. The form cesáis carries a written accent on the a (cesáis) to indicate the stress on the syllable -áis. In many other Spanish varieties that do not use vosostros, the corresponding form is you all cease, or ustedes cesan.

Notes on regional variation. In contexts where the pronoun ustedes is used instead of vosotros, the present indicative form is cesan (you all cease). The pronunciation of cesáis and cesan can be very close in casual speech, but the accent in written spelling marks the correct syllable stress.

Examples. Examples of uso include: Vosotros cesáis de hablar y prestáis atención a la información. Si cesáis de protestar, podremos dialogar. In Latin America, the equivalent sentence would typically use ustedes cesan.
