Cestood

Cestood is a term used to describe a type of parasitic worm that belongs to the phylum Cestoda. These parasites are commonly known as tapeworms due to their flat, segmented bodies. Cestodes are characterized by their complex life cycles, which typically involve two hosts: a definitive host, usually a mammal, and an intermediate host, often an invertebrate. The definitive host ingests the intermediate host, which contains the larval stage of the tapeworm, leading to the development of the adult worm in the definitive host's digestive system.

Cestodes are known for their ability to cause significant health issues in their definitive hosts. Symptoms can range from mild gastrointestinal discomfort to severe neurological problems, depending on the species and the location of the worm within the host's body. Diagnosis of cestodiasis is often made through microscopic examination of stool samples or other body fluids.
