Cdurasteikolla

Cdurasteikolla is a rural municipality and natural reserve in the highlands of Nordhavn, a fictional Nordic country. The area is characterized by a mix of forests, lakes, and ridge-like topography, and serves as a local hub for forestry and tourism.

The name combines elements from Old Norse and the local dialect, typically interpreted as "stone ridge." The municipality covers approximately 210 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 6,400 in 2023. The administrative center is Eldtur, with smaller settlements such as Brúnadal and Mólar.

The landscape features glacially carved valleys, conifer forests, and several lakes, including Kolvatn. Elevations range from 400 to 950 meters. The climate is subarctic temperate with long winters and short, cool summers.

Archaeological finds indicate occupation since the late Iron Age. The modern municipality formed in 1950 by merging several parish communities. The region has historically relied on forestry, small-scale mining, and, more recently, tourism and renewable energy.

The economy centers on forestry, tourism, and a hydropower plant on the Svala River. A regional road network connects the settlements; there is a freight spur to serve local industries.

Cdurasteikolla contains the Cdurasteikolla National Park, protecting peatlands and basalt columns. An annual midsummer festival features folk music and crafts. Local cuisine highlights the dish "cdurasteik," a slow-cooked venison stew with root vegetables.

The municipality is governed by a council elected by proportional representation and is part of the Nordhavn regional administration.
