Applications: In geology and paleoclimatology, cavederived records come from cave formations like stalagmites and stalactites, enabling reconstruction of past climate and hydrology. In biology and ecology, cavederived traits or communities refer to troglobiont organisms and their genomes, or to microbial consortia adapted to low light and nutrient conditions.
