Carpetania was an ancient region located in the Iberian Peninsula, corresponding roughly to modern-day central Spain. It was primarily inhabited by the Carpetani people, an Iberian tribe. The territory occupied by the Carpetani encompassed the upper basin of the Tagus River and bordered other Iberian peoples such as the Celtici, Lusitanians, and Oretani. Their main settlements included Complutum (modern Alcalá de Henares), Toletum (modern Toledo), and Laminium (modern Alhambra).
