Carlevaris

Carlevaris is a coastal town and municipality in the fictional region of Valoria. Located on a natural harbor at the mouth of the Neris River, it has a temperate maritime climate and a population of about 12,000 residents.

The economy centers on fishing, shipbuilding, and port services, with tourism and light manufacturing providing diversification. The harbor supports commercial activity and serves as a gateway to inland markets and regional trade networks.

Founded in the 11th century by merchants from the Valorian League, Carlevaris grew as a trading hub linking inland markets to sea routes. The old town preserves a maze of narrow streets and a 14th-century fortress. A major earthquake in 1624 prompted rebuilding in a Baroque style that remains visible in many public buildings.

The town is known for its cultural calendar, especially the annual Sea Festival, which features markets, crafts, and a regatta. Local cuisine emphasizes seafood and olive oil. The maritime-history museum and the harbor promenade offer educational and recreational attractions for residents and visitors alike.

Carlevaris is governed by a mayor and a 12-member municipal council. It is part of the Valorian prefecture and maintains sister-city ties with Dorvingen, reflecting a broader regional exchange of culture and trade.

Transportation infrastructure includes a regional port, a railway line linking Carlevaris with nearby towns, and a regional airport located about 25 kilometers away. Notable residents include painter Lucia Dorelli and shipwright Marco Silari.
