Cairill is a fictional city in the high fantasy setting of Valoria. Located on the southern shore of Lake Aethra, it serves as the economic and cultural center of the North March region. The city hosts a diverse population and acts as a gateway between inland settlements and lake trade routes. Current estimates place its population around 82,000.

Cairill takes its name from Cairill the Navigator, a 3rd-era founder who established a trading post at the lake's edge. It grew into a walled town during the early medieval period, prospered as a caravan and shipping hub, and endured civil strife during the Sundered War. The Great Flood of the 9th century triggered extensive rebuilding.

Cairill is governed by a Mayor and City Council elected by residents and guilds. It is part of the Valorian Kingdom and contributes ships and troops to the crown. The Council includes representatives from crafts guilds and merchant leagues, and it oversees markets, harbors, and public works.

Its economy centers on maritime trade, timber, textiles, and glassware. The Glass Market district draws traders from across the lake, while the harbor handles wheat, metals, and dye shipments. Cairill hosts Emberlight, a midsummer festival of lanterns, storytelling, and street performances that emphasizes communal ties and crafts.

Notable sites include the Obelisk of Cairill in the central plaza, the Harbor Gate, and the University of Cairill, which offers studies in navigation, trade law, and geomancy. The Glassworks Quarter remains a center of lamp- and bottle-glass production, attracting apprentices and artisans.

Its transportation network relies on river routes and roadways, with ferries operating across Lake Aethra and a rail link connecting Cairill to the capital and other major towns. The port accommodates vessels up to galleys and serves as a ceremonial entry point during festivals.
