Ca2Fe2O5
Ca2Fe2O5 is a calcium iron oxide compound. It is also known by the mineral name brownmillerite. This material is a member of the perovskite family of compounds, with a distorted crystal structure. The general formula for perovskites is ABX3, and in the case of brownmillerite, calcium and iron occupy the A and B sites, respectively, with oxygen forming the X sites. However, brownmillerite has a specific structure where layers of iron-oxygen octahedra are interleaved with layers containing calcium and iron.
Brownmillerite is known for its magnetic properties, often exhibiting ferrimagnetism. Its color is typically dark brown
