CUsersBenutzer

CUsersBenutzer is commonly read as the Windows user profile directory for a user named “Benutzer” in a German-language installation. The canonical Windows path uses backslashes and is written as C:\Users\<Username>. In this example, the actual path would be C:\Users\Benutzer. The folder stores per-user files and settings and is created when the user account is created.

The profile directory typically contains subfolders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos, and Favorites, as well as the AppData folder, which is hidden by default and contains Local, LocalLow, and Roaming. The AppData content stores application data, caches, and preferences for that user. The profile root also includes the user’s home configuration data, preferences, and recent activity.

Windows loads user-specific settings from the NTUSER.DAT registry hive located inside the profile at logon. The profile is used to isolate user data from other users. The path may be on the C drive or relocated to another drive, and environment variables like USERPROFILE point to this location.

Historical and localization notes: On Windows XP and earlier, the profile root was C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>; from Windows Vista onward, the standard is C:\Users\<Username>, though localized folder names may appear in the user interface. In practice, the actual directory name depends on the user account name and system configuration.

Permissions and management: The folder is owned by the user and protected by NTFS permissions; administrators can access it with appropriate rights. Backups typically include this directory as part of user data.
