CRTskjermeren is a Norwegian term that translates to "CRT monitor" in English. A CRT, or Cathode Ray Tube, monitor is a type of display technology that was widely used in televisions and computer monitors before the advent of LCD, LED, and OLED technologies. These monitors work by firing a beam of electrons onto a phosphorescent screen, which then glows to create an image. The electron beam is scanned across the screen rapidly, creating the illusion of a moving picture.

CRT monitors are characterized by their bulky size and significant weight due to the vacuum tube and associated components. They typically offered lower resolutions compared to modern displays and could suffer from issues like screen burn-in and flicker. Despite these limitations, CRT monitors were known for their excellent color reproduction and fast response times, making them popular for gaming and professional graphics work in their heyday.
