CRISPRCastyökalujen
CRISPRCastyökalujen, which translates from Finnish to "CRISPR casting tools" or "CRISPR toolbox," refers to the collection of molecular components and associated technologies that enable precise genome editing using the CRISPR-Cas system. At its core, this system relies on a guide RNA (gRNA) molecule and a Cas enzyme, most commonly Cas9. The gRNA acts like a molecular GPS, directing the Cas enzyme to a specific location in the DNA. The Cas enzyme then acts like a pair of molecular scissors, making a precise cut at that targeted site.
Once the DNA is cut, the cell's natural repair mechanisms can be leveraged to introduce desired changes.
