CNSään

CNSään is a fictional city-state and cultural hub in the world-building setting of the continent of Lethria. Created for speculative fiction and conworld projects, it is depicted as a dense, multilingual metropolis that blends urban design with advanced neuroscience and information technology. In the narratives, CNSään serves as a laboratory for public policy and human–machine interfaces, as well as a focal point for regional trade and research.

Etymology and language. The name CNSään combines the acronym CNS, standing for central nervous system, with the suffix -ään inspired by northern and Finnic language patterns. In the fiction, CNSään is the name both of the city and of a language family spoken there. The CNSään language is described as agglutinative, with a rich case system and a flexible word order.

Geography and history. CNSään is situated on the southern shore of the Bay of Neris, with a temperate maritime climate and hilly hinterlands. It arose as a trading settlement in the early medieval period, expanded through science-driven governance, and achieved de facto independence in the late medieval era. In the modern setting, it operates under a technocratic council with an emphasis on transparency and data governance.

Economy and culture. The economy centers on biotechnology, neurotechnology, and digital services, backed by a strong education system and open data policies. The city hosts annual festivals celebrating science, art, and multilingualism. The CNSään language and cuisine reflect its diverse population, featuring bilingual public spaces and cross-cultural exchanges.
