CMYKbläck

CMYKbläck is a concept that refers to the subtractive color model used in color printing. The term is derived from the four primary colors used: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). In this model, white is the absence of color, and black is created by combining all four inks.

When these inks are applied to a white surface, they absorb certain wavelengths of light and reflect others. Cyan ink absorbs red light, Magenta absorbs green light, and Yellow absorbs blue light. By varying the percentages of these three inks, a wide spectrum of colors can be produced. Black ink is included to achieve deeper blacks and improve contrast, as mixing the other three inks does not always produce a pure black.

CMYK is widely used in commercial printing, including magazines, brochures, packaging, and newspapers. It is also the standard color model for most desktop printers. Understanding CMYK is crucial for designers and printers to ensure accurate color reproduction across different media. The process of converting colors from a digital display, which typically uses the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) additive color model, to CMYK for printing can sometimes result in subtle color shifts due to the fundamental differences between the two models. This conversion is a common consideration in graphic design and pre-press workflows.
