CMMundersökning

CMMundersökning, or Capability Maturity Model investigation, is a structured process used to assess the maturity of an organization's processes, particularly in the context of software development. The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) was originally developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University. The CMM framework defines five levels of process maturity: Initial, Repeatable, Defined, Managed, and Optimizing.

A CMMundersökning typically involves a team of trained assessors who evaluate an organization's practices against the defined CMM criteria. This evaluation includes interviews with personnel at various levels, analysis of documentation, and observation of work processes. The goal is to identify strengths and weaknesses in the organization's ability to consistently deliver high-quality products or services.

The outcome of a CMMundersökning is a maturity level rating. Organizations use this rating to understand their current capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and benchmark themselves against industry standards. Achieving higher maturity levels often signifies a more disciplined and predictable approach to work, leading to better quality, reduced costs, and increased customer satisfaction. While the original CMM has largely been superseded by CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration), the principles of maturity assessment remain influential.
