CFCers

CFCers is an informal term used to refer to participants in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the United States federal government's annual workplace charitable giving program.

The CFC pools donations from federal employees, retirees, and certain federal contractors; participants select one or more eligible nonprofit organizations from an official catalog or online portal; gifts are typically made via payroll deduction but one-time gifts are allowed.

Administration: The program is administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in coordination with a national Campaign Coordinating Committee and thousands of local campaign organizations that operate within federal agencies.

History and scope: Established in 1961, the CFC has grown to encompass donations to thousands of charities, including national and international organizations; the campaign typically runs annually in the fall; donors can designate funds to a single charity or spread across multiple.

The term CFCers is informal and not officially defined by the program, but it is commonly used in internal communications, social media, and among federal staff to refer to campaign participants.
