Butadienstyrenový

Butadienstyrenový is a Czech term that translates to "styrene-butadiene" in English. It refers to a copolymer synthesized from styrene and butadiene monomers. This synthetic rubber is one of the most widely produced elastomers globally due to its versatile properties. The ratio of styrene to butadiene can be varied during production to tailor the characteristics of the final material. Higher styrene content generally leads to increased hardness and tensile strength, while a higher butadiene content results in greater flexibility and elasticity, especially at lower temperatures.

Styrene-butadiene rubber, often abbreviated as SBR, exhibits good abrasion resistance and aging properties. It is known for its resilience and resistance to wear and tear. However, it is not as resistant to oils, solvents, or ozone as some other synthetic rubbers. SBR is commonly used in applications where a balance of performance and cost-effectiveness is desired.

The primary applications for styrene-butadiene rubber include the manufacturing of tires, particularly passenger car tires, where its wear resistance is a key advantage. It is also used in footwear, hoses, belts, gaskets, and various molded rubber goods. Its processability is generally good, allowing it to be readily compounded with fillers and other additives.
