Mechanisms can include simple buoyant oscillators, where a submerged or partially submerged body attached to a spring or support experiences vertical oscillations because the buoyant force changes with immersion depth. In fluid–structure interaction, the exchange of energy between structural motion and buoyancy-induced flow can produce coupled vibrations, potentially leading to resonance. Buoyancy-driven flows, such as density or temperature gradients causing convective motions, may also induce oscillatory forces and vibrations in vessels or containment structures.
