Bunnahabhain

Bunnahabhain is a Scotch whisky distillery located on the Isle of Islay, Scotland. It sits near Port Askaig on the island's northern coast. The name derives from Gaelic, meaning mouth of the river Abhainn.

Founded in 1881, Bunnahabhain was built during Islay's late-19th century distillery boom and has passed through several owners. The distillery uses water from the Margadale Spring and is known for its unpeated, maritime style whiskies with a gentle sweetness. Production has historically emphasized maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, producing a range of non-peated expressions.

In the modern era, Bunnahabhain is part of Distell Group Limited via Burn Stewart Distillers. The brand markets a portfolio that includes core age-stated expressions such as 12-year-old, 18-year-old, and 25-year-old, as well as occasional limited editions and peated releases like Toiteach.

In addition to its standard range, Bunnahabhain offers guided tours and tastings at the distillery, reflecting its place as a destination for whisky visitors. The company emphasizes a coastal character with light fruit, hints of salt, and a soft, integrated sweetness.
