Brukbasert

Brukbasert (English: user-based) refers to approaches and practices that center on the needs, experiences, and input of end users in the development of products, services, or policies. It emphasizes co-creation, participatory processes, and iterative feedback to ensure outcomes are usable, relevant, and acceptable to its intended users.

Because brukbasert combines the Norwegian words for use and user, its precise meaning varies by context. In design and research, it aligns with user-centered or participatory approaches. In data-intensive settings, it may also describe decisions informed by actual usage patterns or usage data.

Common fields of application include product and service design, health care, public sector innovation, and urban planning. Methods often used are co-design workshops, user testing, rapid prototyping, living labs, and ongoing user feedback loops.
