Briançon

Briançon is a commune in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France. It is situated in the northernmost part of the Southern Alps, close to the Italian border. Briançon is known as the highest city in France and one of the highest in Europe, with an elevation of around 1,326 meters (4,350 feet). The city is strategically located at the confluence of five valleys, historically making it a vital defensive outpost.
