Breathsynchronized is a concept describing the coordination of breathing with another process, rhythm, or signal. It can refer to deliberate paced breathing for health and wellbeing, or to systems that detect a person’s respiratory phase and adapt stimuli in real time. The term appears across physiology, neuroscience, medicine, music, and interactive media.

Physiological basis: Breathing is controlled by brainstem circuits and modulated by higher centers. Breathing can entrain other rhythms, such as heart rate through respiratory sinus arrhythmia.
