These include his second-in-command, Deputy Fuzz, a Texan-voiced, bipedal prairie dog, and his cybernetically enhanced horse, Thirty-Thirty, who can transform into a bipedal combat robot. Bravestarr himself possesses superhuman abilities known as "infinitive powers," granted to him by a shaman. These powers include super-strength, enhanced senses, and the ability to see through solid objects, activated by his totem animals.

The series often blended elements of Westerns with science fiction, featuring space travel, advanced technology, and a frontier justice theme. The main antagonist is Tex Hex, a villainous sorcerer who frequently clashes with Bravestarr and his efforts to protect the settlers of New Texas from his malevolent schemes. The show explored themes of justice, environmentalism, and the struggle between good and evil. "BraveStarr" spawned a line of action figures and other merchandise, contributing to its cultural presence during the late 1980s.
