BravaisGittersätze refers to a collection of theorems about Bravais lattices in crystallography. The term is not part of standard nomenclature in most references, but it is sometimes used in pedagogical discussions to group key results concerning translational symmetry, lattice generation, and classification.

The core ideas captured by BravaisGittersätze begin with the definition of a Bravais lattice as the set of all integer linear combinations of a set of primitive vectors. Any lattice point can be reached by translating a chosen origin by these integer combinations. A primitive cell, of minimal volume that tiles space, exists for every lattice and its volume equals the absolute value of the determinant of the matrix formed by the primitive vectors. Lattice descriptions are not unique: changing the basis of the lattice by an integer unimodular transformation (an invertible integer matrix with determinant ±1) yields an equivalent lattice, so Bravais lattices are invariant under such basis changes.

In three dimensions there are 14 Bravais lattices, organized into crystal systems and lattice types according to their translational and point-group symmetries. The theorems associated with BravaisGittersätze connect these symmetries to constraints on lattice parameters (such as equal edge lengths or right angles) and to the structure of reciprocal lattices, which relate to diffraction patterns.
