Braben

Braben is a surname of English origin. The name is most closely associated with David Braben, a British video game designer and entrepreneur. Braben co-designed Elite (1984) with Ian Bell, a space trading game that was notable for its early use of 3D graphics and open-ended gameplay on personal computers, and it helped establish a new model for player-driven exploration and commerce in games.

In 1994 he founded Frontier Developments, a British game development company. He has served as its chief executive and remained a driving force behind its projects. The studio is best known for continuing the Elite series, including Elite: Dangerous (2014), a modern space flight simulation that expanded the game's universe and ongoing development.
