Bortai is a historical figure from the 13th century, of Mongol origin. Her full title, recorded in the Yuanshi, is Göke Kotan Bortai, indicating her family affiliations and status. As a member of the tribes of Kökede, a subgroup of the larger Mongol people, Bortai would have had connections to the Mongol nobility and their military campaigns.
