Borges
Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges Acevedo, known as Jorge Luis Borges, was born August 24, 1899, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and died June 14, 1986, in Geneva, Switzerland. He was a writer, poet, essayist and translator whose work is widely regarded as among the most important in 20th-century literature.
His most famous books are the short story collections Ficciones (1944; expanded 1956) and The Aleph (1949).
Borges's fiction often explores infinite regress, labyrinths, mirrors, language, and the nature of reality and authorship.
Written primarily in Spanish, Borges's works have been translated into many languages and widely studied. He
