Bohrlochintegrität refers to the ability of a wellbore to contain fluids and prevent their uncontrolled flow into surrounding geological formations or the environment. It is a critical aspect of drilling and completing wells, particularly in the oil and gas industry, as well as in geothermal energy extraction and carbon capture and storage projects. Maintaining borehol integrity is essential for operational safety, environmental protection, and economic viability.

The integrity of a borehol is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the casing and cement used, the geological conditions of the formations encountered, and the operational procedures during drilling and completion. Casing, which is steel pipe installed in the wellbore, provides structural support and acts as a barrier against fluid migration. Cement is then placed in the annulus between the casing and the borehole wall to create a seal.

Deterioration of borehol integrity can lead to various problems, such as leaks, blowouts, and the migration of undesirable fluids. These issues can result in environmental contamination, safety hazards for personnel, and significant economic losses due to well downtime or abandonment. Therefore, rigorous monitoring and testing are performed throughout the life of a well to assess and ensure its integrity. Techniques like pressure testing, logging, and mechanical integrity assessments are employed to detect potential integrity issues. Remedial actions may include repairing or replacing damaged components, or reinforcing the wellbore with additional cement or specialized materials.
