Bodeninversion
Bodeninversion is a term used in pedology to describe the inversion or reversal of the usual vertical order of soil horizons within a single soil profile. In typical profiles, horizons become progressively deeper with depth (for example an A or E horizon over a B horizon over a C horizon). In a Bodeninversion, deeper material can be found at or near the surface, while surface horizons are displaced downward or mixed with deeper layers, creating an inverted stratigraphy.
