Bluesbreakers

Bluesbreakers is a British blues-rock band originally formed in 1963 in London. The band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the years, with its most famous period being in the mid-1960s. During this time, John Mayall, the band's consistent leader and vocalist, featured a roster of highly talented musicians who would later achieve significant individual success.

The original lineup included John Mayall (vocals, harmonica, guitar, keyboards), Roger Dean (guitar), John McVie (bass), and Hughie Flint (drums). However, it was the guitarists who passed through the Bluesbreakers that garnered the most attention. Eric Clapton was a member from 1965 to 1966, and his playing on the album "Blues Breakers – John Mayall with Eric Clapton" is considered highly influential. Following Clapton's departure, Peter Green joined for a short period, contributing to the album "A Hard Road." Mick Taylor was another notable guitarist, playing with the band from 1967 to 1969, and his work can be heard on the album "Crusade."

The Bluesbreakers were instrumental in bringing American blues music to a wider British audience and were a breeding ground for some of the most iconic guitarists in rock history. Their sound was characterized by raw, energetic blues amplified with a rock sensibility. While John Mayall has continued to record and tour with various lineups under the Bluesbreakers name, the mid-60s era remains the most celebrated and historically significant period of the band's existence.
