Blokklánc

Blokklánc, often translated as blockchain, is a distributed, immutable ledger system that records transactions across many computers. Each block in the chain contains a batch of transactions, a timestamp, and a cryptographic hash of the previous block. This linking of blocks using hashes creates a chain that is inherently secure and transparent.

The distributed nature of blockchain means that no single entity has control over the entire ledger. Instead, it is maintained by a network of participants, making it resistant to censorship and single points of failure. When a new transaction occurs, it is broadcast to the network and validated by participants. Once validated, it is added to a new block, which is then appended to the existing chain.

The immutability of blockchain is a key feature. Once a block is added to the chain, it cannot be altered or deleted without the consensus of the network. This makes it highly reliable for recording and verifying data, such as financial transactions or supply chain movements.

Blockchain technology underpins cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin but has applications far beyond digital money. It can be used in voting systems, digital identity management, healthcare records, and many other areas where secure and transparent record-keeping is essential. The decentralized and tamper-proof nature of blockchain offers a new paradigm for trust and data integrity in the digital world.
