Bleigießen, which translates to lead pouring, is a traditional European New Year's Eve divination custom. Historically, molten lead was used, but due to its toxicity, it has largely been replaced by molten tin or a blend of tin and other metals with lower melting points. The practice involves heating the material until it melts, then quickly pouring it into a container of cold water.
