BleiSäureAkkus

BleiSäureAkkus, also known as lead-acid batteries, are a type of rechargeable electrical battery. They are composed of lead plates that are submerged in an electrolyte solution of sulfuric acid. The chemical reaction between the lead plates and the sulfuric acid generates electricity.

These batteries are widely used due to their reliability and cost-effectiveness. They are commonly found in automobiles as starting, lighting, and ignition (SLI) batteries. In this application, they provide the high current needed to crank the engine. BleiSäureAkkus are also used in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to provide backup power during outages, and in various industrial applications for energy storage.

The charging and discharging process of a BleiSäureAkku involves reversible chemical reactions. When discharging, lead dioxide on the positive plate and lead on the negative plate react with sulfuric acid to form lead sulfate and water. During charging, this process is reversed, converting lead sulfate back into lead dioxide and lead, and regenerating sulfuric acid.

Despite their advantages, BleiSäureAkkus have some limitations. They are relatively heavy and bulky compared to newer battery technologies. They also have a limited cycle life and can be sensitive to extreme temperatures. Proper maintenance, such as checking electrolyte levels and ensuring proper ventilation, is important for their longevity and safe operation. Disposal of BleiSäureAkkus requires special handling due to the presence of lead and sulfuric acid, and recycling programs are widely available.
