Blazevinkel is a fictional creature described in the folklore of the volcanic archipelago of Torv and in modern fantasy fiction and tabletop role-playing games. The name combines blaze with a regional suffix -vinkel, reflecting linguistic influences attributed to coastal communities in that setting.

Description: Blazevinkels are small, ember-colored beings about 8 to 12 centimeters long. They have a semi-transparent body that glows with an orange-red light and two minute wings. In calm conditions they appear solid; when agitated they flash briefly and emit a crackling sound as their glow intensifies. They are nocturnal and typically inhabit lava tubes, basalt cliffs, and geothermal vents where surface temperatures stay within their tolerance.

Ecology and behavior: They feed on mineral spores and microfungi on warm rock surfaces and can move rapidly along walls using a gliding motion aided by their light. They reproduce in clusters within crevices, with eggs that hatch into nymphs that glow until maturity. Their bioluminescence is thought to be a byproduct of a chemical interaction with trace metals found in volcanic rocks.
