Blackstone Inc., commonly referred to as Blackstone, is an American multinational investment company that specializes in private equity, real estate, credit, and other alternative assets. It was founded in 1985 by Stephen A. Schwarzman and Peter G. Peterson and is headquartered in New York City. The firm operates globally and, as one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers, raises and manages capital across a range of strategies. It went public in 2007, and in 2019 restructured as Blackstone Inc., continuing to be a leading force in private markets.
