Bitumenesaszfalt is a paving material used for road surfaces, consisting of mineral aggregates bound together with bitumen, a viscous binder derived from crude oil. The mix is produced in hot-mix asphalt plants and laid hot, then compacted to form a durable, flexible surface. Variants include polymer-modified bitumen blends that improve elasticity and resistance to deformation.

Applications of bitumenesaszfalt include roads, streets, highways, airport runways, and parking areas. It provides good waterproofing, load-bearing capacity, and skid resistance, while allowing relatively fast construction and repair. The material is commonly recycled through the use of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), which can be reprocessed into new mixes.

Proper mix design helps minimize rutting under heavy traffic, cracking in cold weather, and ageing due to oxidation and UV exposure. Temperature sensitivity means that extreme heat can soften the surface, while cold can increase brittleness.
