Biopropylene

Biopropylene is a type of propylene that is produced from renewable resources rather than fossil fuels. Propylene itself is a basic petrochemical that is a key building block for many plastics, including polypropylene. Traditional propylene production relies on the steam cracking of naphtha or other hydrocarbon feedstocks derived from crude oil. Biopropylene, in contrast, is manufactured through biological processes.
