Bimetallilämpömittari is a type of thermometer that utilizes the principle of differential thermal expansion of two or more metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion joined together. Typically, these metals are in the form of a bimetallic strip, where two thin strips of different metals are bonded together.

When the temperature changes, the metals expand or contract at different rates. This causes the bimetallic strip to bend. For instance, if one metal expands more than the other when heated, the strip will curve with the more expansive metal on the outside of the curve. Conversely, when cooled, the strip will bend in the opposite direction.

This bending motion is then used to indicate the temperature. As the strip bends with temperature fluctuations, the pointer moves along the scale, displaying the corresponding temperature.
