Bildungsprämie

Bildungsprämie, translated as "education premium" or "learning bonus," was a German federal government program designed to support continuing education and vocational training for adults. The primary goal was to enable individuals to acquire new skills or deepen existing ones, thereby enhancing their employability and career prospects. It was particularly aimed at people with lower or middle incomes who might not otherwise be able to afford such educational opportunities.

The program operated through education vouchers, known as Bildungschecks. These vouchers could be used to cover a portion of the costs for approved training courses, seminars, and other forms of adult education. To receive a Bildungscheck, individuals typically had to attend a consultation session at an authorized counseling center to discuss their educational needs and eligibility.

The Bildungsprämie program was implemented in phases and underwent various adjustments over its duration. Its funding came from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the European Social Fund. The program aimed to contribute to lifelong learning and to adapt the workforce to changing economic demands.
