Berardius is a genus of beaked whales in the family Ziphiidae. These large cetaceans are found in deep oceanic waters worldwide, although their distribution is not fully understood due to their elusive nature. Currently, two species are recognized: B. arnuxii, the southern beaked whale, and B. bairdii, the northern beaked whale. A third, B. magnificus, was formerly recognized but is now generally considered synonymous with B. arnuxii.
