Beorhtbeorht
Beorhtbeorht, also known as Beorhtberht, was an Anglo-Saxon king who ruled Wessex from 765 to 786 AD. He was the son of King Cynewulf and succeeded his brother, King Cyneheard, upon his death in 765. Beorhtbeorht's reign was marked by a series of conflicts with the Mercian king Offa, which culminated in the Battle of Otford in 771. This battle resulted in a decisive victory for Offa, who subsequently became the dominant power in Mercia.
