Beorhtwulf

Beorhtwulf was a king of Mercia, an Anglo-Saxon kingdom in what is now central England. He reigned from 840 to 852 AD. Information about his early life and the circumstances of his accession to the throne are scarce. Historical records indicate that Beorhtwulf faced significant challenges during his reign, including Viking raids and internal unrest.

During Beorhtwulf's rule, Mercia experienced a period of instability. The Great Heathen Army, a large force of Viking invaders, began its major incursions into England around this time.
