Bensiiniinjektorit, often referred to as fuel injectors, are critical components of a modern internal combustion engine's fuel delivery system. Their primary function is to precisely spray gasoline into the engine's intake manifold or directly into the combustion chamber, atomizing the fuel into a fine mist for efficient combustion. This precise delivery contrasts with older carburetor systems, which relied on vacuum to draw fuel into the airstream.

The operation of a bensiiniinjektori is controlled by the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU receives data from various sensors, such as the oxygen sensor, mass air flow sensor, and throttle position sensor, to determine the optimal amount of fuel to inject for specific engine conditions. There are two main types of gasoline direct injection systems: port fuel injection (PFI) and gasoline direct injection (GDI). In PFI systems, injectors are located in the intake manifold, spraying fuel before it enters the combustion chamber. GDI systems, on the other hand, have injectors located directly within the combustion chamber, allowing for even more precise control over fuel delivery and potentially improving fuel efficiency and power output.

Over time, bensiiniinjektorit can become clogged with carbon deposits or other contaminants, leading to issues such as rough idling, misfires, reduced fuel economy, and increased emissions. Regular maintenance, including occasional injector cleaning, can help ensure their proper operation and longevity.
